In 1989 YouSaveOnMeds.com founder, Marty Portnoy, found himself without a job, and with no health insurance. He personally felt the strain of paying for expensive medications. Marty found that many people were struggling with cost of high cost medications and some even skipping their medications as a way to save money. This inspired Marty to find a solution!

Marty connected with other professionals within the prescription medication industry. Marty spent a lot of time learning the business. The largest part of his subsequent research and due diligence, had to do with affiliating with a company that vetted their international sources. This included time spent scrutinizing their processes, reliability, quality and, of course, establishing rock-solid agreements that would ensure longevity of discounts and savings. It took time, but it worked out to everyone’s advantage.

Marty has been moved by his role and the major savings that he’s been able to provide to people. Says Marty: “This business appeals to the do-gooder person in me who believes in helping others. I’ve always wanted a profession I could feel good about. That’s where I was inspired by singer/composer Tom Lehrer’s lyric, “doing well while doing good.” That applies to me directly.”
